Mackie Girl: My New Baby

My PC running on Windows XP is giving up on me. Every time I connect to the internet, it seems that it automatically acquire several malware out there even though I use a free security software (I'm a cheapo...). And as everyday goes, it becomes slower and slower and even hangs up on me and freeze while I'm in the middle of doing something important or interesting. It drains out my simple life of playing, picture editing, blogging, internet surfing and web lay-outing.

And as this happens, I am also locking my eye on something that would help me on my dilemma. A transition that I would think would be the end of it all. Minding the consequences, I decided to get "it". Its a used PowerMac G4 that's being sold for a reasonable and cheap price. And as soon as I got the money, I contacted the seller and set up an appointment with him. We met at a local mall and after chatting with a little bit of haggling about the price, I went ahead and bought my first Mac computer. I didn't know it would have issues of its own that I needed to research. And after more then a week of trying to resolve these issues and upgrading some of the peripherals, I am enjoying my new baby... Mackie Girl.

Using a MAC computer is a long process of learning since I'm used to use a Windows based PC. I use a lot of it in the office so I'm still tied to the old OS I have. But one thing good about having MAC as your PC, at least you don't have to worry about viruses. She's working faster than my previous Pentium 4 computer. She downloads and surf faster and process even effectively. One thing that I should learn is that I have limited resources when it comes to programs that are usually readily available for a Windows platform computer.

But I have no regrets so far. She's being a good girl for daddy and does her job well done. Although she's 10 years old already, I think she's gonna be a good computer for the next 2-3 years and who knows, maybe more. Old that she is, but still reliable.

G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra

When I was at grade school, I used to play a lot with toys. The dream toy that I want to collect was the G.I. Joe action figures and the Transformers robots. I was able to purchase three G.I. Joe action figures namely, Mainframe, Lady Jaye and another one that I forgot the code name. I also recieved a gift of four action figures of the A-Team. After school, I went on to play these action figures until my mother yell at me to stop playing. That was the time my imagination and plot making was cultivated... I think.

G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra. The Nanotechnology has arrived to give advantage to the world's power hungry nation. To protect it falling to the wrong hands, a secret group of elite soldiers were gathered up as the world's last defense at terrorism. Led by General Hawk (Dennis Quiad), Duke (Channing Tatum), Ripcord (Marlon Wayans), and others were members of G.I. Joe. The rising of a terrorist group that was consisted of the Doctor (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) that will later on become Cobra Commander, Destro (James McCullen), Baroness (Siena Miller), Storm Shadow (Byung Hun-Lee) and Zartan (Arnold Vosloo) will become the Cobra. Although their efforts to rule the world went for naught, there is a hanging question if there will be a part two.

Verdict. I have long waited to see my favorite action figures come to life on the big screen. After watching the movie, at least I'm not disappointed. The effects and the actors played very well. The plot has several twists that made the audience thinking at the edge of their seats. The thing that I anticipated in the movie was the duel between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Although it was short, a least it did not disheartened to see them. Their story on the TV series are very intriguing and they are the most scarce G.I. Joe action figure way back. I'm looking forward to see the sequel.

9MM Girls: Sam Pinto

I don't like the idea of playing GOD that is being shown publicly especially on TV. I personally had experienced it when I was playing the SIMS PC game. Its really hard to play emotions and freewill with my SIMS just for my personal pleasure. And for the reality show Pinoy Big Brother Double Up, its worse than I thought. It peeves me when some people shows fake personality to gain something for himself/herself. Although its only my opinion, I set aside my idea and watch it nonetheless, at least to see a glimpse of an almost perfect lady. I'm talking about Sam Pinto. She's the most gorgeous and sexiest of the batch of PBB.
Sam Pinto. Born as Samuelle Lynne Acosta Pinto, 20 years old and a Fashion Design student of DLSU College of St. Benilde. She started modeling career when she was 10 and since then there were numerous appearances on several TV commercials and products. The most popular would be when she appeared as a "kolehiyala" (college student) on a biscuit commercial. And she boasts that she has no current relationships because she said that men are intimidated with her looks.
As a man that enjoys looking at good looking creatures, especially the female gender, I have to admit that Sam is what you call "the girl you want to be for the rest of your life." What else are you gonna look for in a woman? She has the face of an angel, the body to die for and the character that would melt even the stubborn of men. I cannot resist such beauty and looks that made me think twice about my marriage (just kidding...). Even though she has been evicted from the Big Brother house, she's still a winner for us, men...

The Return of Stone-Cold Angel!!!

After a brief hiatus from the blogging scene, Stone-Cold Angel is back to give you interesting articles once again. Its been almost nine months since I have written my last article in my blog. Many things happened during those months that made me miss blogging.

As for my first article, I thought that I would write about the bad things that happened to me for the past several months. But I thought twice... three times, several times even. And then I decided for one thing. I would just keep it to myself and learn from those things. Although most of them are quite painful to reminisce but still its an experience.

As for this blog page, I kinda thought of renewing the format of it. I couldn't help it. Many things and thoughts are coming to my mind and most of it would be how I could make things better for this site.

For now, let's just keep it this way. But I'll be more anxious to post more blogs here in the coming days. So let's keep our heads up and look forward for a new and bright future.

Thanks to all of you who keep on visiting and checking my site.

In Memoriam: Michael Jackson

I was at work when I learned from a colleague that The King Of Pop Michael Jackson is already dead. I hurriedly finished my cigarette and went up to confirm the death on the internet. To confirm it, at around 2:26PM PDT at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles California, Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest before even reaching the said hospital. The pop icon gave us several hits that made pop music hit popularity. I was one of those kids that grew up liking his music. But now that he's gone, let's look back at his top nine legacies that he left us.
The King Of Pop
Michael Joseph Jackson
1958 - 2009

Jackson 5. He was first publicly known as the boy that leads the group and this was the start of his career. His four older brothers comprises the group and he sings number one hits like "I Want You Back", "ABC" and "I'll Be There".
Dance Moves. His electrifying dance moves like the crotch-grabbing dance move and the moonwalk as well as other moves that only Jacko can perform is really one of a kind. His dancing prowess is very energetic and electrifying that anyone could be amazed. And he also sings while dancing and that's very difficult. A one man performer.

Fashion. His sense of fashion is an indication that he has his own sense of style. His single sequined white glove, military style jacket and avaitor sunglasses are what he wears whenever he goes public. When he performs, still the glove, white socks and pants that are just above his heel. We used to joke around ourselves if we wore those kind of pants way back in high school. But it made him famous.
Neverland Ranch. Jacko purchased 2700-acre land in March 1988 to make it a theme park for himself. Composed of ferris wheels, menagerie and a movie theater so that he could live his boyish dreams. He once said that he is still a boy, he wanted to be Peter Pan, the boy that doesn't want to grow old. Who would want to grow old? This place near Santa Ynez, California is now worth $100 million.
Marriage. With his short marriage with the daughter of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie, Jacko united two of music's biggest names. Although their marriage did not bore a child, another marriage gave him two sons from Debbie Rowe. After their divorce and up until he died, he was alone with his sons.

Concert. I remembered when he held his concert here in the Philippines, media and the hypocrite religious people tried to stop his performance. I say it was music, for whatever their reason set it aside and let the man perform. I was unable to attend due to financial reasons but if I could turn back time, I would have watched whatever the odds were.
Cosmetic Surgeries. His skin illness of vitiligo was his main reason that he had done several cosmetic surgery. It made his physical appearance paler, more like a living zombie. But some sources said that he was addicted to cosmetic surgery. Whatever the reason, is for him alone to keep.

Scandals. Several of it. Molestation, pedophilia and child sexual abuse to name a few of his accusations from almost unknown people. Even if this was true or not, this made a large impact to Jacko's life making him miserable and lost of his financial controls. In July he was about to perform on a series of concert that would made his comeback. Sad to say its not going to push through anymore.
Music. Of course his number one legacy will be his contribution to the music industry. Michael Jackson still holds the record the best-selling album of all time "Thriller" with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide. My favorite album was "Dangerous" and my favorite single was "Black or White".
This is my tribute to Michael Jackson. He made music influenced the lives of billions of people worldwide. I don't care about his imperfections and ever-changing looks and appearance. I just care about the man and his music. His untimely death will be deeply mourned and his memories will live with us in our hearts. Thanks to the King Of Pop! May you rest in peace.

Condolonces also to the family of Charlie's Angels star and actress Farah Fawcett who died earlier battling anal cancer.

Los Angeles Lakers: 2009 NBA World Champions!

I stopped being a Laker fan when Kobe Bryant entered the franchise and wore number 24. I mean I can still be a fan of the Lakers if they threw Kobe to another team. I'm sorry but I really don't like the guy. I mean, why would Kobe think that he could surpass the greatness of "The Greatest Basketball Player of All Time, His Airness Michael Jordan", by wearing number 24 on his jersey. I respect Kobe's skills and the least he could do is to respect Jordan. And we all know Kobe's moves, skills and style came from His Airness. But nonetheless, I congratulate the team and not the player.
The Playoffs. I wished that L.A. would be eliminated either on the first or second round. But it seems that this team is so strong that it ended up in the Finals knocking out Denver Nuggets to win the Western Conference Finals. In the East, I was hoping that the Boston Celtics would live up to the challenge of beating the Lakers again. But Kevin Garnett got injured early on and had to succumb to Orlando Magic young guns. When the Eastern Conference Finals was played, I was hoping of a Cavaliers vs. Lakers Finals rather than Magic vs. Lakers for a good match up between Lebron James and Kobe Bryant. But still "The Superman" Dwight Howard and the rest of Orlando Magic together with their coach Stan Van Gundy(resembles Ron Jeremy according to Gian), stopped the King and flew to L.A. to challenge the Lakers.
The Finals. I favored the underdog on this match up. After seeing how the Magic dismantled the Cavaliers, it seems that this team has what it takes to overthrow another big team. But my expectations were not met when they lost Game 2 in OT. If Curtis Lee had only sanked that alley hoop basket, it would have been a tremendous boost for Orlando to make this series more exciting. After making wrong crucial decisions, playing the wrong play, turning the ball over and not making crucial free throws are lessons that the young Magic need to learn from now on. Another mistake was not fouling Derek Fisher on that dying seconds of the fourth quarter on Game 4. Fisher sanked a three pointer and tied the ball game and ended later in a Laker win in OT. Although the efforts are there, but Rashard Lewis, Mickael Pietros, Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard and the rest of the team along with their coach Stan Van Gundy, are still young to outplay a championship team like the Lakers.
The Lakers. I congratulate the Los Angeles Lakers team and franchise. They deserve The Ring they long awaited. Their efforts has been rewarded by the determination and hardwork. A deserving victory and lots of loss to those who bet for the underdog(do you need help on finishing those 2 cases of beer you won, Jhomer?). Not sure though that they can defend their title next season for some key players are going to be healthy and determined to grab the crown. Congratulations again to the Los Angeles Lakers, the 2009 NBA World Champions!

Drag Me to Hell: Boring!

My fiancee got free movie passes for two and decided to spend it last June 10. And on that day too, there was a rally against constitutional change that will be held in the location where we can choose a good movie. We have to abort that location and look for some other movie theaters that are far from the assembly. So we ended up in one of the remote locations where we can choose only five movies to watch that day. The passes is going to expire the next day anyway so we picked a good horror movie. Drag Me To Hell... Since it was directed by Sam Raimi (Army of Darkness, Spiderman 3), we thought its a good scare movie... but...
Drag Me To Hell. The ambition of a young girl to be promoted as assistant manager of a bank has been jeopardized after she did not grant a request from an old woman. Fighting to save her life before she gets taken to hell by the demon Lama, she did things to prevent that from happening. After a series of incantations and spells she gave the wrong item to the dead old woman to reverse the curse.

Verdict. Sam Raimi, is one of my favorite directors when it comes to comedy horror flicks. He has made very impressive works on "Night Of The Living Dead" and "Army Of Darkness" starring Bruce Campbell. He also made a good job on Spiderman 3. But how come he fails on this one. I thought he can come up with the gore and comedy that made him famous on his past movies. This totally is way out of his talent. Although there is the gore and funny scenes that make horror fun, still it did not satisfy the audience including me and my fiancee. Not recommended if your gonna pay for the tickets. At least we saved 200 bucks on this. I should've spent it on a DVD copy of One Litre Of Tears.

Marriage: Happily Or Stressful Ever After?

As we (me and my fiancee) prepare ourselves to have our grand-tie-of-the-knot, I can't help myself thinking if we were doing the right decisions of our lives. Of course, every man and every woman dreams of getting married to their special someone. We, on the other hand, had promised each other that we will love each other no matter what until the end of time (very cheesy!). But as the wedding date comes to a close, there are several stressful situations that we can't ignore. And every day I am in pain and thinking for me just to bail out.
Parents. Both parties. Its really hard to please them especially on a traditional wedding. It has to be grandful. It has to be special for both families. All relatives must be invited. But we say, we can't afford the luxury of having a grandious wedding. If we will be asked, we tend not to marry. Why? What if something goes wrong along the marriage? Its very expensive to file a case of annulment than to get married. We stay as we are, having the best of our relationship. But still we dream more than that. We don't want our children not to have a big happy family. I can't help think that my family is abandoning me on this special occassion.

Expenses. This is the main reason we have moved our marriage year after year. Unexpected things tend to come that your saved money will be used and before we knew it, its gone. We are better off this way, living together. Nobody wants to help us on this because neither party said that they have the money to help us on this.

Requirements. License, seminars and other commitments are of course are a hassle if you're working in a call center industry. You need to attend these because if not, the marriage will not going to push through. WTF!?! That's BS! But still we need to abide. Its the tradition. And of course ther are other things unforeseen for now that may arise in planning and the event itself.

In the traditional marriage, there are many things that you need to consider. But whatever it is, it is always important that you know for yourself that you'll marry the woman/man that you want to spend your life with. Be it you'll get married with a judge or a priest, its still your commitment and word of honor that will be held to be responsible with the wedding matrimony. Its not a joke. As for ourselves, we will gonna push through with this no matter what. Just writing this to give myself a morale boost to overcome these things before and after the wedding event.

The Hunt For Gollum

I was browsing the internet when I stumbled to this site about a creature named Gollum. He was popularized by his skinny and pale figure in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Gollum had made an important role in the war between against Sauron. Although, there was not a very clear history what Gollum did in those 500 years he held the "Ring of Power", still his character must be justified. From the fans of the Trilogy both movie and book, comes a fictional tale that can only be watched online and for free. The Hunt For Gollum is now showing...
To watch the movie online, Click Here.

The Hunt For Gollum. This story is not in any part found in any of the books in the trilogy. This fictional story has been created by J.R.R. Tolkien fans to give a little twist on the story. Aragon/The Strider is on the hunt for the whereabouts of the creature named Gollum that would provide men crucial information of the whereabouts of The Ring. After a long journey, he at last found Gollum and brought him back to Gandalf. But not without encountering Orcs and a RingWraith on the way, who are also looking for Gollum also for the same information. Aragon must face them and bring Gollum with him in order to fulfill his destiny to become King.

Verdict. Not bad for a non profit movie. Or I should say its perfect. A twist in the storyline of the famous JRR Tolkien books would at least give us answers to some question left hanging. Its very original and the way they showed it to people, its not likely that this project will become successful. Although they did not the cast as good as the trilogy, still they made exceptional brilliance on this movie. WOW!
